Yep. That’s definitely a post-Starman James Robinson book.
I almost hate to say it, but Hulk has my attention at the moment. Damn you, Jeff Parker. Damn you for making me pay to read a comic starring Red Hulk. Damn you. And if you’re wondering, yes, he did already insert the obligatory Jeff Parker Agents of Atlas appearance.
Wait, didn’t we already go through the whole “Terry and Robert torture Donna” in Blackest Night: Titans? Has Robinson really lost his touch? It’s not a rhetorical question . . . I feel that I’m genuinely out of the loop.
by Jason September 26th, 2010 at 23:14 --reply@Jason The villain of the piece actually forces Donna and Jade to relive pretty much every single bad moment of their lives. That was just the one that made me roll my eyes the hardest.
by taters September 26th, 2010 at 23:23 --replyMaybe I’m missing the point, but the one thing that sticks in my mind is, “What If All of Marvel’s Superheroes And Supervillains Wore Baseball Caps?”
If they can create a universe where battles are musical numbers…
by W4 September 27th, 2010 at 03:30 --replyI don’t recall an AoA appearance with Red Hulk or the latest ish. What/when did I miss?
by West September 27th, 2010 at 06:22 --replyI’m sure Kaare Andrews is a nice guy, but those necks are killing me.
I like the idea of Storm rocking an X-cap. Keep it pro-black.
by darrylayo September 27th, 2010 at 07:16 --replyThe art in Xenogenesis makesmy eyes bleed.
by Prodigal September 27th, 2010 at 09:40 --reply@West: They were on one of the monitors when Rogers was saying how there’s a superhero team dealing with each and every Leader/MODOK threat.
by Gavok September 27th, 2010 at 10:24 --replyWhat I really liked about Hulk #25 was that Parker threw in some scenes that would definitely please the folks who wanted to see the Red Hulk taken down a notch, but handled it in such a way that it actually added to the character scenes and moved the action forward and wasn’t just “TAKE THAT, YOU TERRIBLE CHARACTER!”
by NeoKefka September 27th, 2010 at 13:35 --replyStorm’s hair looks like feathers. She’s part Shi’ar!
by Jason Barnett September 27th, 2010 at 16:24 --reply@Jason Barnett: They’re just ill feather earrings, is all
by david brothers September 27th, 2010 at 16:24 --replyWow, Cyclops is swole.
by Lugh September 27th, 2010 at 17:55 --replySo I’m guessing from that first panel that Marvel has some new X-men baseball caps to roll out on suckers.
by Jbird September 28th, 2010 at 16:12 --reply@Jason:
Looking back on it, Robinson never had a touch to ruin.
I’m sorry, but everyone just barfed in my ear about Starman and I picked up the first volume of the omnibus and, when you take away Harris’s art (which happens anyway if you keep reading), it’s another escapist superhero book about a hapless young dude talking to himself about power and responsibility and sadding on girls and how unlucky he is all the time. It’s hipster Spider-man. The side stories about the Golden Age and villains are nice; I could read a volume of those, maybe.
But as someone whose first time reading Robinson was his Superman, I don’t think he’s significantly declined or improved.
by Jbird September 28th, 2010 at 16:19 --replyaw yeah Gizmo Duck
by Nathan September 29th, 2010 at 07:05 --reply@Jbird: Regardless, even though I disagree with you, no one was getting fucking eaten or turned into a throw rug in front of Prometheus’ fireplace. And yeah, Harris leaving was disappointing, but I like Peter Snejbjerg.
Robinson also wrote Leave it to Chance, and a great WildCATS run.
by Lugh September 29th, 2010 at 08:24 --reply@Nathan: Not Gizmoduck. Gozmoduck.
by Gavok September 29th, 2010 at 10:19 --replyMan, what is even going on in Justice League any more? It doesn’t even seem like there’s really much in the way of a team any more.
