This Week in Panels: Week 222

Triple 2s! Neat! And with a Two-Face comic in there also!

Huge, huge week this update, breaking forty images, which may be a ThWiP record. Helps that I have Matlock, Gaijin Dan, Space Jawa and Was Taters backing me up.

My time’s been eaten up by a lot of personal things, but I have some stuff coming up in the next couple days. A really nice guest article and a little something different. In the meantime, here’s a review I wrote for Den of Geek US on a comic called Rainbow in the Dark. It’s the Matrix meets Pleasantville meets They Live as a rock opera with Sam Elliot as the wise mentor character.

Thunderbolts Annual is a hoot and has one of my new favorite Punisher moments. Highly recommended.

Since Christmas is on the way, I suppose I should post one of my favorite Christmas songs. Still waiting on the Gavin Jasper/David Brothers reenactment.

  1. I’ll admit, your title image for this week made me laugh out loud.

  2. Nothing from the latest Empowered? Lots of fun vignettes, some character redemption, and Emp’s tenancy for getting tied up is explained rather easily. Good times . . . unless you’re Sistah Spooky. Or Hardkore.

  3. Thunderbolts Annual #1 (Gavin’s pick)… Anton Danger’s Lazurus Jacket… what does that mean? And what setting are they going for with them? The middle ages or turn of the century?

  4. @X: Dr. Strange has gone rogue, so the Thunderbolts have stolen a bunch of magical weapons to give them the edge so they can take him out.

  5. Chris Yost loves to jaw-jaw about the sad-sad, dunnhe?

  6. Gavok,

I take it your favorite Punisher moment was his response to “You can’t kill gods”?

That, combined with the cowboy hat panel in the Simone Agent X issue that just got re-printed last week have really reminded us that Frank Castle is one of Marvel’s most underutilized comedic characters.

  7. @SB: Nah. It’s the part at the end with, “THIS is what makes me happy.”
