This Week in Panels: Week 106
October 2nd, 2011 by Gavok | Tags: Batman, captain america, flash, green lantern, i vampire, jonah hex, justice league dark, new 52, panels, teen titans, ultimate spider-man, venomBefore I get started, I’d just like to point out that I’ve succeeded in improving Marvel’s miniseries event Fear Itself. Behold!
I’d read the hell out of that comic. Anyway, got a gigantic set of panels this week. Not only did I read way more than can be considered healthy, but I’m joined by David, Was Taters, Space Jawa and Luis. This is a week where we’ve been blessed with Venom vs. Anti-Venom, which is a great way to distract me from the unfortunate sadness that comes from Anti-Venom’s impending death/depowering.

Now that October’s started up, I’m excited because it means that James Rolfe — known more widely for his Angry Video Game Nerd character — has gone back to doing his Monster Madness series. Every day, he goes over a different Halloween-related movie, some years with a different theme. This year it’s him going over the movie histories of four different cinematic monsters, starting with Frankenstein. Rolfe’s been one of my bigger writing influences, so these are always a blast to sit through.
Speaking of blasts, here’s one of his better reviews, Inframan.
The picture you have for BPRD Hell on Earth: Russia #1 is from Abe Sapien: The Devil Does Not Jest with art by James Harren.
