This Week in Panels: Week 99
August 14th, 2011 by Gavok | Tags: deadpool, fear itself, flashpoint, panelsTake one down, pass it around and we’re on Week 99. Got the regular crew with me this time with David Brothers, Was Taters and Space Jawa. I was going to say that ThWiP would take a big hit from the exodus of all the Flashpoint tie-ins, but it’s going to be pretty nuts next month when I find myself reading every single DC #1 for review purposes. Why do I hate myself?

I’ve been doing the whole “I’ll give Deadpool ONE MORE ISSUE/ARC to see if it can redeem itself” shtick for a while and it seems this arc may finally give me a decision. Way’s problem isn’t that he’s outright bad, but that he can come up with genuinely interesting story arc concepts that don’t pan out. Right now, Wade is in a mental hospital. Wade is best when he’s looking within, so MAYBE we can get something out of this.
Booster Gold ends with the biggest whimper. It’s actually pretty depressing how it just ends out of nowhere due to editorial mandate. Maybe in Justice League International we can finally find out who the hell Black Beetle really is and what the deal is with Rip’s mother.
Stay tuned next week for #100. With guest stars Art Carney and Bea Arthur!
Even if no one in Gotham is smart enough to KILL the Joker, couldn’t they at least realize that not wiring his jaw shut is a missed opportunity to avert all kinds of issues?
by Drakyn August 15th, 2011 at 11:41 --replyWay’s problem is exactly what you said: he has great ideas, but there’s no one over his shoulder- Axel doesn’t actually, you know, BOTHER with editing his pals trying to ram those square pegs into round holes. You read interviews with him and he has all these ideas- then the comics come out and none of those ideas are on the page, or if they are, in extremely vague form.
