This Week in Panels: Week 155
September 9th, 2012 by Gavok | Tags: hawkeye, panels, punisher, tmnt, ultimate spider-manAhoy! I was going to name this ThWiP #0, but that would involve going into the origin of this nearly 3-year-old weekly segment. Ah, what the hell, here’s the origin:
“Hey, David. I have an idea for a weekly bit every Sunday. I’d call it Panels of the Week and I’d–”
“Sure, go ahead.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Do whatever. I’m BUSY with writing for Comics Alliance and sleeping with all these models so I don’t care about what you do with your time.”
“Oh. Thanks. …Can I maybe have–”
“No. Get your own.”
“Shucks.”
My helpers are Jody, Gaijin Dan, Was Taters and Space Jawa.

Congratulations! By looking at that panel for Green Lantern #0, you have effectively read the entire issue! That made my job easy.
But enough bitching from me. How can I be negative about anything when we have the return of SIFL AND OLLY?!
Yes, this song has been stuck in my head all week.
Punisher – Not interesting enough.
Hawkeye – Interesting me more and more.
Silk Spectre – Great line.
Batwing – Great panel. Now I wanna know who he is, what his role is, and what drives him.
Animal Man – Damn, I’m interested.
Yet, I remain uninterested in current high comic prices.
by West September 9th, 2012 at 22:52 --replyThe thought of new Witless & Olly has made me forget any comics related things for the week…

What the hell stupid kindle keypad?
by LUrkerWithout September 10th, 2012 at 02:18 --replyfor some reason the fact that 9/11 occurred in the new DC universe has shaken something deep inside of me
I mean, I could deal with superheroes having just shown up a few years before “now”, and not having been properly around since the early 20th century, but this just…bends the universe in weird directions.
On a more positive note, I really love Defenders even if it feels like it’s weaving around like a drunk. The page-bottom meta commentary is still charming and effective, and I feel like the illusion of this single ongoing monthly being relevant to the larger Marvel universe is being maintained at a rather exceptionally high level (especially as opposed to whatever bonkers stuff is happening in recent Bendis Avengers books).
by C September 10th, 2012 at 05:17 --replyWho is that green lady in Avengers Academy? Ms. Comics?
by Basic Babel September 10th, 2012 at 05:18 --replyDid it bother you that 9/11 did (sort of) take place in the Marvel Universe?
by West September 10th, 2012 at 05:35 --reply@West: The green lady is Hazmat minus the Hazmat suit.
by Drakyn September 10th, 2012 at 07:06 --replyYou’re great at picking the best Dial H panels! Bumper Carla really was awesome.
by Dave September 10th, 2012 at 09:31 --replyIt bothers me that I took place in the 9/11 universe.
by Slim Suggins September 10th, 2012 at 20:55 --replyNow I want to go get pie.
