Ahoy, my friends! Another week of panelingus begins with me and Gaijin Dan and Matlock and Space Jawa! Jawa is inconsolable due to what appears to be the final installment of Batman: Li’l Gotham. Meanwhile, Matlock only sent me DC panels for whatever reason. Ah well.

For Den of Geek US, I had some stuff go up. The main course is a review I did on the WWE/Scooby-Doo crossover movie that just came out. Then I also wrote little fluff pieces on the live-action Street Fighter web series and the preview of the upcoming Deadpool wedding issue. The backups of that issue will feature stories by every single major Deadpool comic writer. From Priest to Waid to Simone. Sounds awesome.

It’s a super-late edition of This Week in Panels, brought to you by me being stuck on the phone/chatting with customer support people for the past few days because practically every piece of technology I touch has a tendency to not work. But hey, at least I have the WWE Network working now and that’s a good time.

Elsewhere, at Den of Geek US I was asked to post some preview pages for the upcoming Deadpool vs. Carnage miniseries. I went a little bit further by writing up a Tale of the Tape between the two. Also, I have a comprehensive guide to the death and return of CHIKARA Pro Wrestling.

But really, I barely wrote anything last week due to the WWE Network. By God, it’s great.

All right, back on schedule! I had an awesome time at yesterday’s National Pro Wrestling Day, which featured the much-needed return of CHIKARA. Without going into too much detail, let me just say that the show featured a run-in via time travel where a guy literally drove in in a Delorean. It was amazing.

As the Royal Rumble ends and the Superbowl is on the horizon, it’s This Week in Panels! This week, I’m helped out by Gaijin Dan and Space Jawa. Meanwhile, I read way more than last week, including Superman being a dick to Jim Gordon, which is just too terrible for words no matter what universe you’re in. Never be mean to Gordon. He’s a good guy.

The Deadpool digital comic is seriously good, though. It has some of the best use of the digital format and it’s fun regardless.

My time’s been eaten up by a lot of personal things, but I have some stuff coming up in the next couple days. A really nice guest article and a little something different. In the meantime, here’s a review I wrote for Den of Geek US on a comic called Rainbow in the Dark. It’s the Matrix meets Pleasantville meets They Live as a rock opera with Sam Elliot as the wise mentor character.

This week gave us a goofball story in Avengers Annual, some great closure in Young Avengers and the stupidest, most amazing reveal in DC Universe vs. Masters of the Universe. I think Keith Giffen must have been watching the Scooby Doo movie when writing this one.

To Infinity Gauntlet and Beyonder! It’s This Week in Panels! Strong week across the board and I’m helped with it by Space Jawa and Gaijin Dan. Unfortunately, while Sinister Carnage was really strong for the first four issues, the last issue is a big step down that only succeeds in bringing things back to the status quo. The worst part being how they made a big deal out of Cletus Kasady being brain dead because the symbiote is supposedly worse than him on its own… so they fix his brain at the end.

They never did explain how his legs came back.

But who cares about that? Infinity stuck the landing and I can’t wait for the next chapter in Hickman’s Avengers/New Avengers epic. Hopefully we get more Maximus. Hickman’s writing the fuck out of that guy.

In other news, I wrote a review of Christmas Bounty starring WWE wrestler the Miz for Den of Geek US. It’s worse than you’d think!

I could open with a bit about how great IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series has been, but I’ll let you read Gavok’s summary on the series if you need a real introduction.

Ready to move on? Good.

Let’s talk about Shredder, shall we? Because for all the things he may be – leader of the Foot Clan, the turtles arch-nemesis, ruthless as can be – he also happens to have some significant flaws.

One of these is a talent for making enemies who want him dead, especially in IDW’s current series. Which is kind of a bad deal since so many of theses people arguably have the ability to pull it off, too. At least, if you ignore his potential immortality. Which is why I can’t help but get the feeling that in spite of how hard it is to kill him, it’s not a question of if someone will snuff him out soon, but who?

So why don’t we take a moment to look at the likely suspects (and a few unlikely ones as well) and see just who might have what it takes to actually pull it off?

I don’t know. Just seemed weird that Invincible and Saga would have generational arm-wrestling matches weeks apart.

This week I’m joined by Gaijin Dan and Space Jawa. Jawa and I both realize that the world is now better for having Bebop and Rocksteady fully join the cast of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic.

I know I’ve probably said this before, but I really wish DC would just give Ostrander an ongoing for the Others from Aquaman. It would only last a few issues before being cancelled, but I’d read the hell out of it. Besides, it has diversity and stuff without running into the legacy quagmire that’s been shooting them in the foot.

Plus the Prisoner-of-War is one of my favorite things about the New 52 and I want to see more of him.

Heya. So the idea was that Friday I was supposed to do another installment of This Character in Panels because it was the 4 year anniversary of this weekly segment. Then when working on it, I remembered that it takes like ten times as long to do one of those updates as it does this. Yeah, so I’ll try to have that done tomorrow. The last week’s been a complete mess for me and I’m super glad to have it all done away with.

Elsewhere, I’ve written a review of Street Fighter Origins: Akuma that got posted at Den of Geek US.

This week ends Villains Month at DC, meaning I can go back to knowing what it is I want to read from that company. Thanks to Matlock, who read about 95% of that experiment and gave me panels for it. Also thanks to contributors Gaijin Dan and Space Jawa.
