This Week in Panels: Week 103
September 11th, 2011 by Gavok | Tags: panelsWith the New 52 in full swing (as well as some really good Jeff Parker Marvel stuff. Can’t forget that), we have the first of what’s sure to be a set of very full installments of ThWiP. This time it’s me, David Brothers and Was Taters.
You know, back in the 90’s, when they had Marvel/DC Amalgam, they mentioned a character named Wonder-Gold (he hung out with Blue Jacket). After this week, I’m wondering if the Amalgam universe had Wonder-Gold head Revengers International alongside Anti-Lantern and D-Rocket.

As part of my Brave New World; Bold New Direction series, I’ll go over my thoughts on the DC stuff tomorrow. Then maybe the next Summerslam Countdown installment the day or so after that. Wasn’t that supposed to be all done a month ago? God, I’m losing my touch. Though I will say that one of the DC panels is me saying, “This is how bad the comic is.” Try and guess! And no, it’s not the Liefeld one.
In other news, I’ve watched the following video far too many times to keep track of and maybe you will too.
…Yeah.
Love that Thunderbolts panel.

by Discount Lad September 12th, 2011 at 09:40 --replyThat video is incredible. Did iZombie get any better after the first few issues? As much as I love me some Allred art, it just went absolutely nowhere.
by super nintendo chalmers September 12th, 2011 at 09:45 --replyBatgirl is obviously the comic you’re referring to at the end.
by Debaser September 12th, 2011 at 10:49 --replyI’m sure everybody loves Virgil’s sister in theory (though having had a sister like that, growing up with her was a challenge!).
But what I wanted to comment on was how impressed I was with the decision on how Animal Man would approach the hostage taker. First thing: mask off. This isn’t a superhero job, this is a parent’s job. The cynical stance would be that the story is leveraging something intimate and horrible for dramatic purposes, but I think it says a lot about Buddy and the medium in recognizing that empathy and not punching is the first option.
by ddt September 12th, 2011 at 10:56 --replyThe Green Arrow panel kind of made me feel like barfing so maybe it’s reverse secret good because they’re on a ship?
by D. Druid September 12th, 2011 at 18:12 --replyEither ‘gobble, gobble’ or Green Arrow trying to bring the 90’s back.
But you are wrong.
It is the Liefeld panel. It is a foetid cosmic abortion.
