I can’t prove it, but I’ve always had the suspicion that SoV was a test run for Blue Beetle III. Or worse, their similarities are a coincidence but still the reason for Mikey’s unceremonious disposal.
At least he was saved from dieing for “real” by his non-New God heritage. Wake up, kid, your mentors didn’t mean to set a catatonic example!
